What should I expect at the initial consultation?
At your initial consultation you will be given an opportunity to discuss your personal health goals with a functional medicine provider. This will be an opportunity for you and our staff to identify if you are a good candidate for our services.
How much is the initial consultation?
The initial consultation fee is $199. This fee is non-refundable and collected at the time the appointment is scheduled.
Should I bring anything with me to the consultation?
We ask that you upload into your personal portal or bring any pertinent medical records, supplements, medication and lab test results with you. If you are not the financial decision maker, we ask that you bring your significant other with you to the consultation.
How long should I expect the consultation to last?
Expect the consultation to last for 90 minutes.
Does your office take insurance for Functional Medicine Services?
We do not accept insurance or Medicare for our consulting services. Your case requires special attention and time that is not covered by insurance companies.
Does your office offer single lab testing or al a-cart testing?
We do not offer a la-carte testing since this goes against the paradigm of functional medicine. If we are going to address the root cause of your health issues, we will need to take a more comprehensive approach. We only work with patients on a case management basis in one of our programs.
Is my lab testing covered by health insurance?
This depends on your insurance. Often insurance companies will pay a portion of Functional medicine lab testing. We will always let you know the expected price before you get the test.
What forms of payment do you accept?
We accept credit and debit cards and Care Credit. The initial consultation is charged at the time of booking in order to save your appointment and is non-refundable.
Do you offer financing services?
Yes, we offer financial services through Care Credit.
Can I use my HSA or FSA account?
Yes. Please check with your HR department to be sure.
What are your office hours?
Our office hours are M-F, 9am-5pm. We are closed weekends and holidays.
Will I see other practitioners?
Yes, you will work with a team of experts to help you accomplish your health goals. These may include a nurse practitioner and lifestyle coach.
Does you office accept patients that live in other cities/countries?
We support patients throughout Kansas and Missouri. We require that everyone be seen in person for the initial consult.
Do I qualify for the Sastun Essentials program?
This program is for anyone looking to optimize their health. The only time somebody is not qualified is if their condition requires urgent medical attention. If a client is not motivated, engaged and willing to take the steps necessary to get healthy they would not be a good candidate.
How much should I budget for functional lab testing costs?
By joining our essentials program you have access to direct pricing on lab test kits, which ensure you pay the lowest price possible. On average you should budget between $500-$1500 for functional labs.
What are the costs of supplements?
Often during your program we will recommend supplements. The supplements we recommend are only the highest quality and GMP-certified. Often you will need to budget $200-300/month for a period of time as we help you bring your body back to balance so that it can heal.
Can my appointment be done over the phone or Skype?
We do have remote visits available with the Zoom video conferencing app. We can also conduct appointments by phone if the internet service doesn't permit for an online video call.
What will my next couple of appointments be after the initial consultation?
Expect to schedule an Initial Lifestyle visit with our Health Coach within the first week. This will allow us to get a baseline on your health and habits. About a month after your initial consultation, we will schedule you a Review of Findings appointment. This is another one hour appointment in which Dr Tramp prepares an individualized video reviewing the results of your labs and initiates an individualized plan based on those results.
How does lab testing work?
The lab testing is typically done at home. In some instances you might have to get blood work done. We will schedule that through our clinic or will direct you to the QUEST lab to do that. You will get instructions in more detail on how to do the test kits and the kits come with clear instructions as well. Payment is made directly to the lab to ensure that you have the lowest price possible.
What happens at the end of your essentials program?
At the conclusion of your successful program, continuing care options are available.
Can I get a "good faith estimate" explaining how much my healthcare will cost?
You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical and mental healthcare will cost.
Under the law, healthcare providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance, an estimate of the expected charges for medical services, including psychotherapy services.
You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency healthcare services, including psychotherapy services.
You can ask your healthcare provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service.
If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.
For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises.
